Essential Oil Safety

To keep you and your family safe while using essential oils it is important to remember 3 simple rules.

1. Keep out of eyes
2. Dilute with Oil
3. Dilute with Kids (Topically)

Please note before I start that I am referring 100% pure Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils. I would not recommend using oils that are not certified to be used Aromatically, Topically, or Internally

If you do get them in your eyes DO NOT use water. Always use a carrier oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO), grapeseed oil, or olive oil. This will dilute the oil. If using on a child a good place to apply them is the bottom of their feet them cover with socks to prevent transfer to eyes.

Diluting is as easy as dropping 3-4 drops of coconut oil into the palm of your hand and dropping a drop or two of the desired oil into the puddle. Then apply to desired area. This method will also keep the oil for evaporating as quickly giving it time to soak in.

With kids it’s important to refer to a chart such as the one in the Modern Essentials book to look up dilution protocols. Also, please use common sense. Some but not all need to be diluted and not all can be used in the 3 methods mentioned above. It’s a safe rule of thumb to dilute for kids topically in my opinion.
